all things biblio

A library is a hospital for the mind.

You can find magic wherever you look.

Sit back and relax,

All you need is a book.

-Dr Seuss

“There are no faster or firmer friendships than those formed
between people who love the same book.”
– Irving Stone, Clarence Darrow for the Defense

“When trouble strikes, head to the library. You will either be able to solve the problem, or simply have something to read as the world crashes down around you.”
– Lemony Snicket

I find libraries a place of comfort and the ultimate distraction when things aren’t going well. It’s as if it were a bubble separated from reality, a calm, quiet space where you can learn anything or just read something mindless.

To read a book for the first time is to make a new acquaintance;

to read it for a second time is to meet an old friend.

Chinese saying

A book is like a key to unknown chambers

within the castle of one’s own self.

Franz Kafka

Stephen King on Good Books

“There are books full of great writing that don’t have very good stories. Read sometimes for the story. Don’t be like the book-snobs who won’t do that. Read sometimes for the words – the language. Don’t be like the play-it-safers that won’t do that. But when you find a book that has both a good story and good words, treasure that book.”
– Stephen King

“Books give a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and life to everything.” -Plato
